The textile industry in my country is an industry that is highly labor-intensive and highly dependent on foreign countries. my country is the world's largest producer and exporter of textiles and apparel. The sustained and steady growth of textiles and apparel exports is crucial to ensuring my country's foreign exchange reserves, international balance of payments, stability of the RMB exchange rate, solving social employment and the sustainable development of the textile industry. The raw materials of textiles mainly include cotton, cashmere, wool, cocoon silk, chemical fiber, feathers and down, etc. The downstream industries of the textile industry mainly include clothing industry, home textiles, industrial textiles, etc.
The textile industry is subdivided into cotton textile, chemical fiber, linen textile, wool textile, silk, textile knitting industry, printing and dyeing industry, etc.
The textile industry is also a highly polluting industry. In May 2007, the State Council issued the "First National Pollution Source Census Plan" and the textile industry was listed as a key polluting industry. According to statistics from the State Environmental Protection Administration, the total wastewater discharge from the printing and dyeing industry ranks fifth among the national manufacturing emissions. 60% of industrial wastewater discharge also comes from the printing and dyeing industry, which is highly polluted, difficult to treat, and has a low reuse rate of wastewater. In the production process of the chemical fiber industry, some products use a large amount of acids and alkalis, which eventually produce harmful substances such as sulfur, sulfuric acid, and sulfates, causing serious pollution to the environment; in some cases, the solvents and media used cause serious environmental pollution. Another manifestation of environmental pollution caused by chemical fiber production is the non-degradability of chemical fiber products themselves, especially synthetic fibers, whose waste recycling costs are high and pollutes the air after burning; it is not easy to degrade after being discarded, causing the soil environment to deteriorate. In addition, the pre-treatment process of the wool and linen silk industry is also the focus of wastewater discharge in the industry. In terms of energy consumption, the power consumption of textile machinery and chemical fiber machinery is very prominent. The total energy consumption of the chemical fiber industry is about 10% to 30% higher than the advanced foreign level.
